Dunn’s River Falls & Park (a day trip)

Dunn's River FallsNear Ocho Rios, the Dunn's River Falls is one of the most beautiful spots on the island.  The falls have been described as a living and growing phenomenon as it continuously regenerates itself from deposits of travertine rock.  This rock is the result of precipitation of calcium carbonate from the river as it flows over the falls.  The small dome-shaped cataracts are usually associated with thermal spring activity found in limestone caves.  The falls themselves lie inside a beautifully maintained park area that offers terracing and decks for viewing the falls, picnic facilities, craft shops and a cafeteria. Two separate fees will be charged. One will be an entrance fee to the park and another if you actually want to climb the falls or swim in the river. You may attempt to scale the falls solo or you can wait for a guide who knows the best footholds. Visit Dunn's River Falls.
